If you love art and are looking for a unique cultural experience in the heart of Rome, mark these dates on your calendar: from Sept. 6 to 8, at 5 p.m., Palazzo Altemps opens its doors for three special guided tours marking the conclusion of the extraordinary exhibition "Dipingendo Cavalcaselle. Di tersa mano" by artist Corrado Veneziano.
Opened on June 18, this exhibition captured the attention of visitors because of its fusion of past and present. Veneziano's 24 canvases, strategically placed between the temporary exhibition hall and the museum's majestic halls, create a fascinating dialogue with the Hellenistic and Latin sculptures that make Palazzo Altemps unique. This exhibition choice is not only an aesthetic tribute, but also a deep philological reflection: the works are inspired by the notebooks and sketches of Giovanni Battista Cavalcaselle, a key figure in art history whose work redefined the attribution of medieval and Renaissance works.
Corrado Veneziano, building on Cavalcaselle's studies, has created modern works that engage with classical art in a lively and novel way, offering visitors a visually and intellectually striking experience.
These guided tours, led by Veneziano himself along with curator Francesca Barbi Marinetti, are the latest opportunity to discover firsthand the inspirations and creative process behind these works. The tours are included with the museum entrance fee.
